On a bright, crisp morning on Saturday, January 28th, 2006, members of the SAR and DAR meet at Hopewell Presbyterian Church in Huntersville, NC to commemorate the actions of those heroes who fought and died at Cowans Ford in 1781. This group of Patriots sought to delay the army of Charles, Earl Cornwallis from pursuing Daniel Morgan and his men who had just won the battle at Cowpens. It was during this battle that General William Lee Davidson met his death. A wreath laying ceremony was conducted at his gravesite.
