The Centennial Medal competition ended in a clear decision by the Board of Managers, who selected a sketch provided by Steve Pittard of the M. de Lafayette Chapter in Fayetteville . The sketch shows three Revolutionary War soldiers, two in Continental Army dress, and one in a militia hunting outfit.  Each is carrying a rifle.  A scroll with the date '1911-2011' is shown with a background inscription which reads '100 Years in Defense of Liberty'.  The Rim of the medal is inscribed: ' North Carolina Society Sons of the American Revolution'.

Work is still progressing to decide on the image for the reverse side, and the color scheme of the ribbon.  The Committee will submit a proposal for approval by the national SAR office prior to having the medal struck.

A $ 50.00 donation to the NSSAR Library Fund will be made in the name of Steve Pittard, and a bronze good citizenship medal with certificate of appreciation from the NC Society will be presented to Steve at our annual state congress in 2006.
