North Carolina Society Annual Convention

Compatriots,

 

          The Raleigh Chapter cordially invites you to attend the 2006 Convention of The North Carolina Society, SAR in the Capitol City.  The convention hotel will be the recently remodeled North Raleigh Hilton at 3415 Wake Forest Road, Raleigh, NC.  Registration check-in will be from 2 PM to 6 PM Friday or between 9 AM and 11:30 AM Saturday.  The SAR table will be off the main lobby.  Your convention registration packet will be provided to you at the check-in table.  It will contain tickets for the events for which you have registered, the itinerary, and information and maps on the points of interest in Raleigh, as well as shopping and dining. 

 

          The President's Reception on Friday evening will be held in Salon F of the Hilton, beginning at 6:30 PM.  It will include heavy hors d'oeuvres, beverages, and a cash bar will be available.

 

          Saturday morning is open time for you and yours to visit the sites of our city, however, we suggest that you be back in the hotel not later than 11:30 AM. 

 

          The luncheon will begin at 12:00 noon in Salon F of the Hilton.  The keynote speaker is Randall Jones.  President General Roland G. Downing, as well as representatives from the South Atlantic States District Conference (FL, GA, SC, & NC) will also be attending the events.  Senior Vice President Sam Powell will be making presentations to the winners of the NCSSAR Youth Contests (Eagle Scout, Essay,  Outstanding JROTC Cadet & Americanism Poster).

 

          Following the luncheon, all Society members will convene for a general business meeting in the Boxwood room of the Hilton.  We anticipate this meeting will begin at or about 2:30 PM.

 

          The banquet on Saturday evening will be held in the Carolina Country Club at 2500 Glenwood Avenue (see the map in the registration packet).  Transportation will be provided from the hotel for those who require it.  The Official Party’s receiving line forms at 6:30 PM in the ballroom - initiating the evening banquet festivities.  Dress is tuxedo, uniform (modern or 18th century), or business suit.  A cash bar will be available.  The Official Party's Processional to the head table begins at 7:30 PM.  

 

          Vice President General, C.D. Williams, will be conducting a conference of the South Atlantic States District, including representatives from Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina, on Saturday.  The District conference will be from 9 AM to 11:30 in the hospitality suite near the President General's room.  Fifteen to twenty representatives are expected to attend.

 

          A breakfast honoring George Washington Endowment Fund Fellows (those who have contributed more than $1000 to the fund) is also planned for Saturday morning in the Lofton's Restaurant (adjacent to the main lobby) between 8:00 and 9:00 AM.

 

          The group room rate for this convention is $82 per day (plus room tax), if reservations are made on or before March 15, 2006.  After that date rooms are provided space-available only.  The toll free telephone number for reservations is 1-800-HILTONS (1-800-445-8667) or reservations can be made using the Internet by accessing www.northraleigh.hilton.com.  To obtain the group rate, ensure that you identify your party with the North Carolina Society (SAR) Annual Convention.  If you are making the reservations on-line, use the three digit group code "SAR".  Check-in time is 3 PM and check-out time is 12 Noon.
