From opening remarks by Frank Horton, Senior VP, NCSSAR: "As I stand here today, I am reminded of the words of another great American, "That these Honored Dead shall not have died in Vain." Though the battle fought here did not end in their favor, these men gave their last full measure to a cause which is ongoing still. What these Patriots died for is embodied in our SAR recessional - these men are our forefathers who gave us our Constitution, the Bill of Rights, an Independent Supreme Court and a Nation of Free men. Let us the living never forget their sacrifice. God Bless America!"
