The LTC John Phifer and Mecklenburg Chapters, NCSSAR hosted the Cowan's Ford Patriots and Davidson Memorial Service on Saturday, February 18th, 2006. It was cold day, with periodic episodes of snow mixed with sleet, but a number of supporting SAR Chapters presented their wreaths at the John Davidson Memorial Cemetery. Later the same day, NC historian and author Dan Barefoot delivered an accounting of the events that took place in 1781 at Cowan's Ford. Hours later, a reenactment of the Battle of Cowan's Ford was presented to the public.
