By all rights, it was probably warmer on the 226th Anniversary of the Crossing of the Dan than was the orginal crossing in 1781. Still, with the wind blowing, it was a bit nippy outside. But the sun was shining beautifully and the flags snapped brisquely in the breeze as the Patriotic Organizations and citizens gathered in South Boston, VA., to celebrate the extrication of the Patriot Army under General Nathanael Greene from the pursuing forces of the British Army, led by the Earl, Lord Cornwallis. The warm welcome in Halifax County, Virginia, was extended to all visitors who attended the memorial ceremony of this event.
