Flag Retirement Ceremony - June 17th 2006

The 5th Annual Flag Retirement Ceremony was conducted on Saturday, June 17th, 2006 in Fayetteville, NC. The event was co-sponsored by the Fayetteville Independent Light Infantry (it was on their Parade Field that the ceremony was conducted), the Marquis de LaFayette Chapter of the NCSSAR, and the Library Point Chapter of the NCSDAR. They almost had more business than they could handle - the Airborne and Special Operations Museum turned over an estimated 300 plus flags to retire.  The dedicated team persisted until each flag had been disposed of properly, and remained at their posts an additonal four hours after the ceremony had been concluded at the Parade Grounds.
