William R. Davie 250th Birthday Remembrance
On Saturday, June 24th, 2006, members of the SAR, DAR, CAR, the SC New Acquisition Militia, Masons, and family members congregated in the Old Waxhaw Presbyterian Church in Lancaster Co., SC, to commemorate the birthday and the life of William R. Davie, Revolutionary War hero, founder of the the University of North Carolina and Grand Mason. An SAR grave maker and a Mason monument were dedicated on this day to become permanent reminders that the two organizations hold this man in their highest esteem.
