  5. Communication/Visits.  The website and newsletter are providing accurate and current information to the society.  Sharing of information via email is widening the society’s knowledge for current and future operations.
  6. National Society Activities.  8 compatriots and two wives attended the Spring Leadership Conference & Trustees Meeting in Louisville, KY.  On February 24th the National Trustees approved Winston-Salem as the site for the 121st Congress.  All are encouraged to experience these productive NSSAR business activities.
  7. State/National Conventions.  The Nathanael Greene Chapter is the hosting chapter for the next state annual convention, and is scheduled for April 20-22, 2007 in Greensboro, NC.  Colonial Williamsburg, VA is the site of the 117th National Congress (Williamsburg Lodge) marking Virginia’s 400th anniversary.  This is scheduled for July 6-11, 2007.

 B.  Period Summary.

The quarter began with an alarming number of dropped members from the active roster for nonpayment of 2007 dues.  Reinstatements continue to be received from chapter secretaries.  Chapter leaders are encouraged to begin the dues collection process sooner in the annual cycle.  Community outreach activities have been numerous during the period as reported above (Item A. 3.).  Saturday, March 17th, the 226th anniversary celebration of the Battle of Guilford Courthouse will be observed.  Mark your schedule for this major NSSAR sponsored event. Much work has been accomplished to organize the next state annual convention in Greensboro, NC.  Members of the society attended the Spring Leadership Conference and Trustees Meeting in Louisville, KY.  At that meeting your society presented another gift of $500 for the Center for Advancing America’s Heritage.  The national trustees were informed of the selection of an executive director for HQS, NSSAR.  The national trustees voted in favor of the Congress Planning Committee’s recommendation that Winston-Salem, NC be the site of the 121st National Congress.  Chapters continue their meetings as scheduled.  The next BOM meeting is today in Statesville, NC.    The first quarter of 2007 will end with less than the anticipated total of active members.
